Cisco Network/Systems Engineer

Job Responsibilities include:

 Perform complex design, engineering, implementation, maintenance, and upgrade of the local area network (LAN) and/or wide area network (WAN), and/or security infrastructure

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of existing network and/or security hardware and software in use to provide third-tier technical and administrative support, monitor, and evaluate the efficiency of the network  Provides complex internal analysis and support of the network and/or security infrastructure
  • Periodically review technical documentation of environment supported to ensure that it is correct and up-to-date
  • Assesses and contributes to, when needed, documentation evaluating network and/or security information including measuring and formal reporting of appropriate metrics in periodic intervals for completeness
  • Additional relevant certs are a plus (VCP, NCIE, etc.)
  • Excellent presentation, communication & customer interaction skills required
  • Coordinate and direct preventative maintenance of major communications system components
  • Visit client site locations as required to help answer presales technical questions
  • Provide support to onsite/on-call Support Staff to resolve Wide Area Network (WAN), Internet, VoIP, LAN and Remote Access issues

 Job Requirements:

  • Solid understanding of EIGRP OSPF, and BGP
  • Extensive Knowledge of Spanning Tree, VLAN's, VTP, Trunking protocols
  • Proficient at troubleshooting L2/L3 issues
  • Extensive experience with Cisco and Juniper routers, switches
  • Knowledge of Unified Communications Systems like Cisco Unified Communications platform
  • Understanding of Wireless systems
  • Experienced with Virtualization (Vmware, Citrix)
  • Experience with Active Directory (Connecting AD to ACS, AD for TACACS, Radius)
  • Knowledge of Load Balancing Devices
  • Experience with Sniffer and other advanced troubleshooting tools
  • Certification in one or more of the following technologies is preferred:  Cisco, Emc, Netapp, Vmware, Citrix, Microsoft
